A glimpse into the abstract artwork of Jill Mollenhauer
Jill Mollenhauer
About the Artist: The passion to express and share the beauty that resides within us all motivates Jill to create, whether it be in paint, metal, or any number of other materials. The heart longs to be free; the spirit responds with gestures of creativity that ask to be exposed and played with.
'I want to share the inherent Joy that resides within me. This desire to share leads to each piece of art. It is my invitation to you, the viewer, to experience Home.'
A San Diego native, Jill is largely self-taught. She has devoted her life to moving forward and expanding her artistic skills. Ten years of teaching art to all ages, writing the art curriculum for a private school in Del Mar, Ca, and running a successful mural business since 1983 have added to the process.
'Art is a very personal journey. Come take a look into the depths of me, and if you are so inclined, come play!' More

In this review, we'll take a look at some unique handmade Jewelry styles we've come across so far this year. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what Handmade Jewelry truly is, here's the simple definition; Handmade jewelry is jewelry that's been made and formed by hand rather than with advanced machines or production lines. Handmade Jewelry is typically designed and created by the artist. FTC guidelines state "in order to be stamped or called "handmade" the work must be made solely by hand power or hand guidance". When Stephen Hawking talks, I listen.
So should you.
Stephen Hawking says we may be doomed as a planet. Abandon Earth face Extinction Warns Stephen Hawkings
The good news... all we need to do is figure out how to abandon earth and colonize a habitable planet like ours. Making the assumption that we (we meaning people much much MUCH smarter than I) will surmount this minor detail, I began to think of course, about art.
Which 3 art pieces would I pack with me (along with Monster energy drinks, freeze dried ice cream, and Tang) to best encompass the enormity the human race? Which of the millions of artwork over history would I present to my new intergalactic friends (although disappointingly Hawkins says these would likely be simple microbes that would have no appreciate for such subjective creativity)?

Back to the Future: Steampunk
Imagine an industrial underbelly, a forest of pipes, gears, and nameless gadgets. Reach back across time to a quaint but clattering world of factories and locomotive whirlygigs, zeppelins, and wooden submarines with red velvet interiors. If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells come to mind, you’re not far off, as what may seem to describe a 19th century flight of fancy has actually exploded into a present day movement all its own: Steampunk. More

| The Process of Metal Etching - Artisan Jewelry Techniques |

The Process of Metal Etching
The etching of metal is a multi-stepped process which imparts texture to the metal. Etching is most often done on metal before it is made into an object. My etching work begins with a picture I’ve drawn or a photograph I’ve taken. The metal is treated by fusing a photosensitive film onto it, and then the selected image is imprinted on the film by exposing it to ultraviolet light. The metal with the imprinted image is then developed in a basic solution. More
